A hand therapist is a licensed occupational therapist who has received advanced training, clinical experience and integration of knowledge in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology of the upper extremity (aka fingers, hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder and everything in-between). The therapists then becomes proficient in treatment of pathological upper extremity conditions resulting from trauma, disease and/or, congenital deformities. If you have a permanent arm or hand limitation, a hand therapist can provide you with techniques, education and equipment to increase your independence with your activities of daily living.
